Student answer (Band 6.0)
The table shows the total number of visitors to Ashdown Museum during before and after it was renovated, while the pie chart compares the visitors satisfaction level during the same two periods.
Overall, it is clearly seen that the total number of visitors increased during the year after refurbishment. However, a large number of visitors was recorded as a very dissatisfied after renovation.
In details of table, before the renovation the museum received 74,000 visitors. After the refurbishment, the number of visitors increased significantly to 92000, showing a rise of 18,000 visitors in one year.
The surveys results also showed a big change in visitors opinion. Before the renovation, 40% visitors was dissatisfied, while 10% very dissatified. In opposite, 35% recorded for very satisfied and 40% was for satissfied. Only 5% visitors was not responed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the visitor total and the satisfaction surveys, and the main figures are generally accurate: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while dissatisfaction fell and satisfaction increased. The overview identifies the attendance rise, but its claim that “a large number” were very dissatisfied after refurbishment conflicts with the data: only 5% were very dissatisfied, compared with 40% dissatisfied. This distinction matters because the strongest overall feature is the marked shift towards positive ratings. You report several useful percentages, though the before-and-after comparison could be clearer and the 5% with no response in the first year is omitted. State the overall survey trend accurately, then group the figures to highlight the contrast between the two periods.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, the visitor totals, and then survey details. This makes the information easy to locate, and transitions such as “In contrast” help signal comparisons. The organisation is coherent, though some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “However, year after refurbishment” does not clearly connect the two survey periods, and “In opposite” is not a natural transition. The survey paragraph also moves through several percentages without consistently pairing the before and after figures, which weakens the progression. Use parallel comparisons—for example, dissatisfaction before versus after, followed by satisfaction before versus after—and choose precise connectors such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “dissatisfied,” and “increased significantly,” so the meaning is usually clear. However, the range and control are limited by repeated basic wording and several inaccurate forms or collocations. “Visitors satisfaction level” is awkward, while “a big change in visitors opinion” is imprecise; “visitor satisfaction” and “ratings changed substantially” would be more natural. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “dissatified,” “satissfied,” “reburbishment,” and “responed.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy and polish. Build a small set of precise chart-reporting expressions and check spelling carefully, especially for repeated key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the opening contrast between the table and chart and the sentence explaining the 18,000 increase. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors recur in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “40% visitors was dissatisfied” and “only 15% visitors was very satisfied”; use “40% of visitors were” and “15% of visitors were.” The phrase “recorded as a very dissatisfied” is also grammatically incomplete, since “dissatisfied” needs to describe visitors or responses. Some sentences omit necessary articles or prepositions, as in “during before and after it was renovated.” Practise accurate percentage structures and proofread each sentence for subject–verb agreement and complete phrasing.
