Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the subject of both visuals and gives one accurate overall point: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment. However, it does not report the actual totals of 74,000 and 92,000, or describe any survey results, such as the rise in satisfied visitors from 45% to 75% and the fall in dissatisfied categories. The overview is also left unfinished at “There is”, so the main changes are not summarised. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, leaving the task only minimally addressed. To improve, complete the overview and select key figures from both the table and charts, making direct before-and-after comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening sentence introduces the table and charts, and the next begins an overview with “Overall”. This gives the reader a recognisable starting point. However, the response stops mid-thought at “There is”, so it has no completed overview, supporting details, or clear progression through the information. The opening also uses “While” to begin a sentence that is not complete as a standalone clause, which weakens the connection between the two visuals. Develop separate, complete paragraphs for the introduction, overview, and key comparisons, and use linking expressions to show how the figures relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “table”, “pie charts”, “surveys”, “satisfaction”, and “increased considerably”. These choices make the general topic understandable. However, the range is very limited because the response ends before it describes the data, and some phrasing is awkward: “number of individuals visiting to Ashdown Museum” is not a natural way to express visitor totals, while “findings of surveys about the satisfaction of visitors” is unnecessarily wordy. Use concise, accurate terms such as “visitor numbers”, “survey results”, and “satisfaction levels”, then add vocabulary for changes and comparisons, such as “rose”, “declined”, and “accounted for”.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows an attempt at a complex opening structure, and the sentence “Overall, the number of visitors increased considerably after the renovation” is grammatically clear. However, the first sentence contains an article omission in “about number of individuals”, and “visiting to” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. The next sentence begins with “While” but has no independent main clause, so it is a fragment. The final words, “There is”, leave another sentence incomplete. These issues, together with the very small sample of writing, prevent a clear demonstration of varied and controlled sentence forms. Write complete sentences, check clause structure, and use patterns such as “the number of visitors to the museum”.
