Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall changes accurately: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and satisfaction improved after refurbishment. You also report several key survey figures correctly, including 40% dissatisfied before and 40% satisfied after. This covers the task and shows some selection of relevant data. To make the summary more complete, include the remaining important comparisons: very satisfied rose from 15% to 35%, while dissatisfied fell from 40% to 15%; very dissatisfied also declined from 10% to 5%, and no response stayed at 5%. The overview is present, but “people were quite unhappy” is broad and could be supported more precisely by contrasting the combined satisfaction and dissatisfaction figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the periods before and after refurbishment. “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the comparison, and the reader can follow the main progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the sentence beginning “there response can be clearly seen” combines survey results and visitor totals without a smooth connection. The overview also repeats the increase in visitor numbers in two consecutive sentences. Grouping the survey figures into a direct before-and-after comparison, and using clearer references such as “the proportion of dissatisfied visitors,” would make the progression more cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “survey,” “dissatisfied,” and “increased significantly,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is somewhat repetitive, especially with repeated uses of “people,” “Museum,” and “numbers.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “comparsion,” “there response,” and “did not responded,” which reduce precision. Aim for more accurate collocations and varied terms for the data and respondents. For example, describe “the proportion of visitors who were dissatisfied” rather than saying people were “quite unhappy,” and use “visitor numbers” or “the total” where appropriate. This would make the report more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main comparisons are usually understandable. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to limit accuracy. For instance, “there response can be clearly seen in survey were 40%” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “this collectively make 55%” has a subject–verb agreement error. “After refurbishment of Museum” also needs an article, and several long sentences are joined with commas rather than being separated or linked correctly. Use shorter, controlled sentences for the figures, then practise combining them with accurate clauses such as “The dissatisfied group fell from 40% to 15%.”
