Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response identifies the topic and reports two relevant facts: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, and dissatisfaction was the largest category before it. However, it gives only a minimal account of the visuals and does not provide a clear overview of the main changes. The figure of 92,000 is accurate, but the increase from 74,000 is not stated, and the survey results after refurbishment are omitted. The phrase “40%” is also not clearly connected to the dissatisfied category. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, leaving the task only partially addressed. To improve, summarise the overall rise in visitors and the shift from mostly dissatisfied to mostly satisfied responses, then support this with key figures from both periods.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the table and survey, followed by two points signalled by “On one hand” and “On other hand.” These markers show an effort to separate the information, but the progression is not developed into a complete summary, and the relationship between the points is not always clear. For example, “the number of visitors increase around 92000” does not clearly explain the comparison, while the final sentence ends without a complete account of the survey. Use a clear overview followed by separate details about visitor totals and satisfaction, and connect each figure explicitly to its period and category.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a small set of relevant terms, including “visitors,” “survey,” “refurbishment,” and “dissatisfy,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary is limited and several word-choice, spelling, or collocation problems make parts difficult to understand. “The museum satisfied them” is not a natural way to describe survey responses, and “explorer’s” is unsuitable for museum visitors. “Renevation” and “renavation” are misspelled, while “most the” is an incomplete phrase. Aim for precise task vocabulary such as “visitor satisfaction,” “respondents,” and “dissatisfied,” and use consistent spelling. A wider range of accurate terms would make the comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both an introductory sentence and longer sentences using contrast markers, but its grammatical range is very limited and errors occur frequently. In “the number of visitors increase,” the verb form does not agree with the singular subject; “it's represent” also has an incorrect verb construction. The phrase “in same period how much the museum satisfied them” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “most the explorer's dissatisfy” is difficult to interpret because the sentence is incomplete and the subject–verb pattern is faulty. Use straightforward, complete sentences first—for example, state that visitor numbers increased from 74,000 to 92,000—then add accurate comparisons using “while” or “whereas.”
