Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main comparison: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while satisfaction improved after refurbishment. You also report several survey figures accurately, including 40% dissatisfied before and 15% after, and 40% satisfied after. However, coverage is incomplete and some details are inaccurate: the after-refurbishment figure for “very satisfied” is 35%, not “less than 5%,” and the response ends before giving the before-period very-satisfied figure. The overview is relevant but broad, and the report does not clearly compare all key satisfaction categories across the two periods. To strengthen the response, select the major shifts and state them precisely, especially the rise in positive ratings and fall in dissatisfaction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two periods. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Turning to the details” and “Conversely” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is not always clear: the after-period figures are presented in a sequence that mixes satisfaction categories, and the final sentence breaks off, leaving the comparison unfinished. Some transitions are mechanical or awkward, while punctuation and spacing around them interrupt the flow. Organise the details by comparing each category across both years, or group positive and negative responses, and use clear references so readers can follow which period each figure describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbished,” “visitor satisfaction,” “dissatisfied” and “accounted for,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “people visits,” “maximum people visit,” and “found more satisfied experience” are not natural ways to describe visitor numbers or survey results. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “Vistors,” “musuem” and “vistors,” and inconsistent capitalisation. Aim for precise chart language such as “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Meanwhile” and the contrast introduced by “Conversely.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “the number of people visits,” “during the year before and after renovated,” and “the maximum people reported as satisfied,” where agreement, verb forms and sentence construction are faulty. Articles and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “the ashdown museum” and the comma-separated fragments around “it is evident.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, for example, “Visitor numbers increased to 92,000 after the refurbishment,” then add comparisons using correctly formed clauses.
