Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main features and report the figures accurately: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, satisfaction ratings increased (very satisfied from 15% to 35%, and satisfied from 30% to 40%), while dissatisfaction fell. Your overview also identifies the broad improvement after refurbishment. This meets the task well, with some evidence of the fuller selection and comparison expected at the next level. However, the overview could be more precise by explicitly contrasting the combined positive and negative responses, and some details are less clearly expressed—for example, “it raised with 10” does not clearly state that the satisfied share rose by ten percentage points. Refer to the visuals as a table and two pie charts, rather than “the pie chart,” and make the comparisons more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has an overall sequence: an introduction and overview are followed by visitor totals and then satisfaction categories. This makes the main information reasonably easy to follow. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Overall,” “in addition,” and “also.” However, the paragraphing and progression are not consistently controlled: the first paragraph combines the introduction and overview, while the remaining information is split into uneven blocks. Some links feel mechanical, and references such as “the same case” and “it” are not always immediately clear. Grouping the satisfaction figures into positive responses and negative responses, with a separate comparison of visitor totals, would create a clearer progression and make the relationships between figures easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “satisfaction,” “refurbishment,” “decreased,” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “increasted,” “refubishment,” “dessatisfied,” and “categorie.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the same case for satisfied” and “the people who prefere to not response.” These choices can make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and vary the verbs used to describe changes, for example “rose,” “fell,” and “remained unchanged.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, sentence boundaries, and articles. For example, “people become More satisfied” should use a past-tense form, while “it raised to reach 92000” has an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “in addition the percentage of satisfaction changed also” then runs into several figures without clear punctuation, making the relationships harder to follow. There are also awkward structures such as “on the year before they are 15 very satisfied.” Use complete, clearly punctuated sentences and consistent past-tense reporting, such as “The proportion who were very satisfied rose from 15% to 35%.”
