Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You report the main figures accurately: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and the satisfaction percentages are generally correct for both periods. You also identify the broad shift from dissatisfaction before refurbishment to greater satisfaction afterwards. However, the overview is not fully clear: saying the highest result after refurbishment was “satisfied” overlooks that this was the largest category, while “lowest is very satisfied and no response is same same” is inaccurate because very satisfied was 35%, not the lowest. The response mainly lists figures rather than selecting and comparing the most important changes. Develop the overview around the rise in visitor numbers and the marked movement from dissatisfied to satisfied responses, and make the category comparisons explicit. (43 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, an overview and separate paragraphs for the table and survey data. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression is weakened by repetitive sequencing phrases such as “As well as,” “Furthermore,” “At least,” and “At the end,” some of which do not express the intended relationship. The overview also combines several points in a confusing sentence, particularly “the highest result of after refurbishment is satisfied and lowest is very satisfied and no response is same same.” Group the survey results by period or by positive and negative responses, and use a small number of accurate links such as “by contrast” and “while” to make comparisons clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitor satisfaction,” “dissatisfied,” and “total number of visitors,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “results of surveys of visitor satisfaction.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the pie chart elucidate” and “the highest results … is dissatisfied.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “satoisfied” and “anoverview,” which reduce precision. Use concise reporting language and vary the terms for the categories and figures; for example, describe the proportions as “the share of satisfied visitors” and say that dissatisfaction “fell” after the refurbishment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most information can be understood, and you attempt longer sentences using connectors such as “and,” “however,” and “as well as.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence formation and agreement. For example, “The table illustrate” needs a plural subject with a singular verb (“The table illustrates”), while “the highest number … and the lowest before refurbishment” is an incomplete comparison. Articles and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “in anoverview” and the spaces before commas and full stops. Build clearer sentences with a subject and verb for each comparison, and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries when editing.
