Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You report the key figures accurately: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and the satisfaction percentages are correctly stated for both years. However, the response does not clearly summarise the main pattern—for example, that satisfaction improved overall, with the satisfied categories rising and dissatisfaction falling. The opening and overview largely repeat the task or list figures rather than selecting and comparing the main features. The response is also below the required 150 words, which limits how fully you can develop the summary. Add a concise overview and explain the most important changes, rather than presenting the percentages as an unconnected list.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a general statement, and then figures for the two periods. This gives the reader some organisation, and the before-and-after grouping is relevant. However, progression is limited because the overview repeats information already given in the introduction, while the final paragraph lists data without explaining how the categories compare. Several sentences are also fragments, such as “The result of surveys of visitors satisfaction year before refurbishment.” Use complete sentences and clearer links between the figures—for instance, contrast the rise in satisfaction with the fall in dissatisfaction. A more purposeful paragraph structure and less repetition would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfied,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or awkward, such as “number of visitor” and “the value of very satisfied.” There are also spelling errors, including “satisified,” “Asdown,” and “refurbshment,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise chart language and vary how you describe proportions and changes. For example, use “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied” rather than “the value of satisfied,” and describe the overall movement with terms such as “increased” or “declined.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most of the response relies on short, simple statements, and there is little variety in sentence structure. Errors in articles, plurals, and verb forms occur frequently: “during year before” needs an article, “number of visitor” should be plural, and “the number … have 74,000” uses an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “The result of surveys…” is not a complete sentence, and the final list lacks consistent sentence structure. These problems sometimes make the relationships between the information less clear. Practise forming complete comparisons, such as “The number of visitors increased from 74,000 before refurbishment to 92,000 afterwards,” and check agreement and articles.
