Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main figures accurately: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and the satisfaction percentages for both years are correctly stated. You also identify the key shift from dissatisfaction before refurbishment to greater satisfaction afterwards. However, the response is 147 words, below the required 150, and the overview is not fully effective: “during the year of refurbishment” misrepresents the comparison, which is between the year before and the year after. The overview should clearly summarise both the rise in attendance and the improvement in satisfaction, rather than mainly listing figures. Add a concise overview and ensure the response meets the minimum length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an opening, a paragraph on the first survey, and a paragraph on the second. This makes the two periods easy to distinguish, and linking words such as “However” and “moreover” help connect some details. Nevertheless, the progression is limited because most of the response lists percentages rather than grouping and comparing the main trends. “Overall” introduces a sentence about visitor totals, but the central survey pattern is not summarised there. Some transitions are also repetitive, particularly the repeated “However” at the start of the final paragraph. Organise the body around the contrast between the two years and use clearer links to show how satisfaction categories changed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” and “percentage,” so the reader can understand the topic and most comparisons. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or repetitive. “Pie graph” is not the best description of the displayed survey charts, while “tuorists” is misspelled and “tourists” is less precise than “visitors” in this context. Phrases such as “a big percentage” and “highest figure shown” are understandable but imprecise. Aim for more accurate reporting language and vary expressions for proportions and changes, for example, “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “increased.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main figures are generally understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “Overall, during the year of refurbishment there are 74000 tuorists” has missing spaces after punctuation, an inaccurate time reference, and an awkward present-tense construction. “15 percentage of visitors are very satisfied” also uses an incorrect grammatical form for the quantity. Several sentences join clauses with commas without appropriate spacing or punctuation. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and use structures such as “The proportion who were very satisfied rose from 15% to 35%.”
