Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given charts demonstrate information about tourists who visited the Ashdown Museum before the refurbishment and after it. Moreover, It also showed the report of surveys which were conducted there to know about their satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
Overall, it can be seen clearly that the vistiors who were preffered to visit the Museum after the construction were more than the people who had been there before the restablishment.
People who gave no response remained the same whereas, people who were very satisfied became double with time, as they were 15% but later became 35%. Satisfied visitors also had positive development as it grew 10%, first they were 30% but after rebuilding of the Museum, it became 40%.
Dissatisfied had declined in the ratio as it was 40% in year before refurbishment, but only 15% visitors remained dissatisfied after it. Last category of very dissatisfied which also had downfall as it was 10% after the year of refurbishment, they were just 5%.
On the whole, during the year before refurbisment total number of visitors to Ashdown Museum were 74,00 and the vistitors during the year after refurbishment were 92,00

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main features of both the visitor total and the satisfaction surveys, and the overall direction is clear: attendance rose after refurbishment, positive ratings increased, and dissatisfaction fell. Most survey figures are reported accurately, including the unchanged 5% with no response. This meets the task well, with some features more fully reported than others. However, the overview focuses mainly on attendance and does not clearly summarise the broad shift from dissatisfied to satisfied visitors. There is also a factual inconsistency: very dissatisfied visitors fell from 10% before refurbishment to 5% after it, but you write that 10% was “after.” The visitor totals are also written as “74,00” and “92,00,” which obscures the figures. A sharper overview and careful checking of all values would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the survey results and visitor totals. The sequence from positive ratings to negative ratings is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “whereas” and “On the whole” help signal relationships. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, and the final paragraph repeats information already introduced in the overview rather than integrating the visitor totals more smoothly. The sentence beginning “Last category of very dissatisfied” is also difficult to connect clearly to the preceding comparison. Use a more purposeful overview, group related figures into clear comparisons, and make references explicit so that each paragraph advances the summary without repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing change, including “declined,” “remained the same,” and “positive development,” so the reader can understand the main trends. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural for a chart report: visitors did not “preferred to visit” the museum, and “construction” or “rebuilding” is less precise than “refurbishment.” “Gave no response” is understandable, but “provided no response” is more formal. Spelling errors such as “vistiors,” “preffered,” and “refurbisment” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise reporting verbs and standard chart language, and proofread spelling; this will make your adequate range more controlled and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “whereas” and clauses introduced by “as.” The main message is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Satisfied visitors also had positive development as it grew 10%” has unclear pronoun reference and an awkward clause structure; “Last category of very dissatisfied which also had downfall” is an incomplete sentence. There are also issues with articles and agreement in “during the year before refurbishment total number … were,” while punctuation is inconsistent, as in “whereas, people.” Work on complete sentence construction, clear subject–verb agreement, and punctuation around linking clauses. These changes would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at varied structures.
