Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction surveys, and your overview identifies the main shifts: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while dissatisfaction was most common before refurbishment and satisfaction became more prominent afterwards. The figures you report for the survey categories are accurate, and you make useful comparisons, such as the combined 70% for dissatisfied and satisfied visitors before, and 75% for the two satisfied groups after. This gives the response a clear, relevant account of the main features. To strengthen it further, make the overview more precise: after refurbishment, “satisfied” was the largest single category, but the two dissatisfied categories together still totalled 20%, compared with 75% satisfied or very satisfied. Avoid describing the chart as showing visitor attraction rather than survey proportions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the visitor total and each survey period. This makes the information easy to locate, and sequencing the categories from largest to smaller shares generally supports comparison. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In terms of,” and “Looking at after refurbishment.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly “Together, this two figure contributed at 70” and “which was 10 smaller than dissatisfied15.” The overview also combines several points in a long sentence, making the contrast harder to follow. Use clearer references and transitions, and ensure each comparison states exactly which categories or values are being compared.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “proportion,” “followed by,” and “represented,” which helps describe the chart data. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices recur, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “tourists attraction” does not describe the number of museum visitors, and “not response” is not the appropriate label for the survey category. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “refrubishment,” “visiotrs,” and “Togerther,” which reduce clarity and control. Aim for accurate, consistent chart language and check spelling carefully. Prefer straightforward terms such as “visitors,” “share,” and “no response” over repeated or unsuitable phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of sentence forms, including a comparison with “while” and longer sentences that report several figures. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, articles, agreement, and prepositions occur frequently. For instance, “the number of tourists visit to Ashdown Museum” lacks a correct clause structure, while “the visitor significantly increased” has an incorrect subject–verb relationship. In “Together, this two figure contributed at 70,” the demonstrative and noun do not agree, and the preposition is not correctly formed. Several sentences also omit necessary articles or use awkward word order. Build accuracy first with clear patterns such as “The number of visitors rose from X to Y” and “X accounted for Y%,” then combine these into more complex sentences.
