Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the main contrast in dissatisfaction, noting that it fell from 40% before refurbishment to 15% afterwards, and you report the rise in satisfied visitors to 40%. However, the response covers the task only partially: the visitor total increase from 74,000 to 92,000 is omitted, and the very satisfied, very dissatisfied and no-response figures are not adequately compared. The overview is also unclear and partly inaccurate: “the highest area” being satisfied in both periods does not match the data, since dissatisfaction was highest before refurbishment. The response ends mid-sentence, leaving the after-refurbishment figure for very satisfied visitors unreported. It is also 11 words below the required minimum. Include a complete overview and select the key figures for both charts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation: an opening statement is followed by an overview and then paragraphs about the survey results. Linking expressions such as “Similarly” and “whereas” show an attempt to connect comparisons. However, progression is weakened by unclear or contradictory statements, including the claim that satisfied visitors form the largest group in both periods. Repetition in “in both both chart” and “with with” also interrupts the flow, while the final sentence stops at “after i,” leaving the paragraph incomplete. Group the figures into clear before-and-after comparisons, use each paragraph to cover a distinct set of information, and check that references such as “it” have an unmistakable meaning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “percentage,” “significant decrease” and “increase,” so the reader can recognise that you are describing survey changes. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand: “number of tourist,” “highest area,” “large number of public” and “aornd” are examples. “Pie chart” is also inaccurate for the visuals, which include a table and satisfaction charts. Aim for precise terms such as “visitors,” “proportion” and “satisfaction category,” and use standard spellings. More accurate phrasing will make your comparisons clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, for example, “For the year before refurbishment … whereas after shows a significant decrease.” This shows some effort to connect clauses, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences awkward or unclear. Examples include “the highest percentage that is observed are those,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “before but after it goes up,” where the comparison lacks a clear grammatical structure. The opening sentence also has an unclear construction, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use parallel structures such as “the figure was … before, compared with … after.”
