Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover the key information and make accurate comparisons: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%, and satisfaction and very high satisfaction increased. You also report the unchanged 5% giving no response. The closing overview identifies the broad shift from dissatisfaction before refurbishment to greater satisfaction afterwards. To make the overview more precise, state explicitly that satisfied or very satisfied responses together formed the majority after the work, and distinguish the two dissatisfaction categories when summarising the overall change. The response addresses the task clearly, though some comparisons are reported one by one rather than synthesised into the main pattern.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable progression: it introduces the visuals, reports visitor totals, compares survey categories, and ends with an overview. Linking expressions such as “while,” “then,” and “after that” help connect comparisons. However, the survey details are presented in a long, crowded paragraph, and the final overview comes after the supporting figures rather than guiding the reader earlier. Some links are mechanical or unclear, as in “After that” for the unchanged no-response figure, and “the figure the significant increase” interrupts the flow. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and grouped survey results, and organise the categories by positive and negative responses to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “increased significantly,” “declined dramatically,” “dissatisfaction,” and “no response.” These choices communicate the main trends, and some variation in “renovation,” “rehabilitation,” and “refurbishment” avoids excessive repetition. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “showed the dissatisfaction,” “reached at 15%,” and “remained in the same.” There are also spelling errors in “dissatifaction” and “refurbisment.” Prefer precise chart language such as “the proportion who were dissatisfied,” “fell to 15%,” and “remained unchanged.” This would make the vocabulary more natural and reliable while retaining the useful range already attempted.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “but” and “while,” and most of the information remains understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “The number of visitors … was 74,000 … but the figure increased … and reached 92,000.” However, errors in sentence construction, articles, and punctuation recur. The opening has a duplicated “after” and an incorrect clause (“after it was refurbishment”), while “the figure the significant increase” is missing a verb. There are also awkward structures such as “reached at 15%” and “remained in the same.” Check each sentence for a complete verb phrase, use articles consistently, and leave spaces after punctuation. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
