Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the main overall changes: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, and dissatisfaction was most common before it, while satisfaction was more common afterwards. These observations are relevant and broadly match the data. However, the report is very incomplete: it gives no figures, omits the increase from 74,000 to 92,000, and does not describe the changes across the satisfaction categories. The final phrase, “in both before and after less,” is unfinished, so an important comparison is unclear. The response also falls 75 words short of the required minimum. To address the task more fully, include a concise overview and select key percentages to compare, such as the rise in satisfied visitors and the fall in dissatisfied visitors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence introduces the visuals, followed by an overview signalled with “In overview.” This gives the reader a simple starting structure. However, the response stops after two sentences and does not develop a clear progression through the table and charts. The linking word “Other” is used awkwardly and does not clearly show how the ideas relate, while the ending “in both before and after less” leaves the final point incomplete. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the introduction, overview and key comparisons, and connect those comparisons with clear references such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “visitor satisfaction,” “dissatisfied” and “refurbishment,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the description less clear, including “more number of visitor,” “the year it was refurbishment,” and “maximum visitor dissatified.” There are also spelling errors such as “redurbishment” and “dissatified,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language and accurate forms: for example, describe visitor numbers as having “increased,” and refer to the “largest proportion” of visitors rather than the “maximum visitor.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine information in longer sentences, for example with “other the piecharts illustrate,” and uses an overview sentence to report trends. However, grammatical control is weak across these attempts, and the sentence patterns are limited. In “during before and after the year it was refurbishment,” the time phrase and passive construction are not formed correctly; “during the same two period” also has a number-agreement error. The final clause is incomplete, and punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, such as “Visitor numbers were higher after the refurbishment,” then add controlled complex forms using “while” or “whereas.”
