Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report the main satisfaction percentages for both periods accurately, including the rise in very satisfied visitors from 15% to 35% and the fall in dissatisfied visitors from 40% to 15%. You also note that satisfaction increased after refurbishment. However, the total visitor figure of 92,000 after refurbishment is omitted, and the overview is brief and unclear rather than drawing together the main changes. The response contains 132 words, below the required 150; this limits how fully you can summarise and compare the information. Develop a clear overview and include the visitor totals alongside the most important survey changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence, moving from the year before refurbishment to the year after, so the reader can identify which figures belong to each period. However, the repeated sentence openings—“According to in this chart” and “And the…”—make the writing mechanical, and the figures are presented as a list rather than grouped into meaningful comparisons. The opening repeats the task wording, while the final comparison is difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the detailed figures, and connect related changes directly, such as the increase in satisfied responses alongside the decrease in dissatisfied ones.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant terms such as “refurbishment,” “visitor satisfaction,” and “very dissatisfied,” and the categories are generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, especially the repeated use of “ratio” and “person.” Several expressions are unnatural for describing survey results, including “visitor ratio is across 30 percent” and “low percent.” There is also a spelling error in “MUSEAM.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a small range of accurate chart language, such as “accounted for,” “the proportion of visitors,” “rose,” and “fell,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Most of the response consists of short, repeated sentence patterns, so there is little evidence of a range of grammatical structures. Several sentences are incomplete or awkwardly formed, for example, “The total number of visitors … 74000.Year before refurbishment results…” and “According to in this chart…”. The final sentence, “before refurbishment visitor low percent and after refurbishment increase visitor satisfaction,” lacks clear sentence structure and grammatical links. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with a missing space after “74000.” Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and combine comparisons using structures such as “The proportion who were satisfied rose from 30% to 40%.”
