The both bar charts illustrate the surveyof number of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished during the same period.

To begin with the total number of visitors to Ashdown museum during the year before refurbishment was 74000, and after refurbishment it increased to 92000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You report the main visitor total accurately, rising from 74,000 to 92,000, and include most satisfaction figures for both years. However, the first-year figures are mislabelled: 40% were dissatisfied, not very dissatisfied, while 10% were very dissatisfied. Your overview, “a lot of change,” is too general to identify the key pattern—that satisfaction increased and dissatisfaction fell. The response also contains 138 words, below the required 150, so the task is not fully developed. To improve, give a precise overview and compare the main shifts clearly, while checking each category against the chart before reporting it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the charts, reports the visitor totals, then discusses survey results and ends with an overview. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression is uneven, and linking phrases are sometimes mechanical or confusing. For example, “However” does not clearly connect the visitor total to the survey data, while “In constract” introduces the second year but does not establish a precise comparison. The repeated “Furthermore,” “While,” and “So” also make relationships between figures less clear. Group the two years in a consistent order and use direct comparisons, such as noting that satisfaction rose while dissatisfaction declined.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “survey,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “surveyof number of visitors,” “30% peoples satisfied from it,” and “a lot of change.” Spelling errors including “responce,” “constract,” and “Ashdowm” also reduce accuracy. Use standard chart-reporting expressions such as “the proportion of visitors,” “were satisfied with the museum,” and “changed considerably.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating “people” when “visitors” or “respondents” is more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the visitor-total sentence communicates the increase clearly. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and prepositions. For example, “The both bar charts illustrate” has an incorrect determiner, while “30% peoples satisfied from it” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. The sentence beginning “While 35% of people…” is a fragment, and “a year before refurbishment 40% were…” needs clearer sentence structure and punctuation. Practise complete comparative sentences, such as “Before refurbishment, 30% of visitors were satisfied with their visit,” and check each sentence for a subject and finite verb.
