Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report the main visitor totals accurately: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and you include the satisfaction figures for both years. However, the response does not clearly summarise the most important overall pattern: satisfaction improved after refurbishment, with the satisfied categories rising and dissatisfaction falling. The overview mainly repeats what the table and charts show rather than interpreting the change. Some descriptions are also unclear, such as calling the 15% dissatisfied group “uncomfortable.” The response is 132 words, below the required 150, so the task is only partially developed. Add a concise overview and explain the key contrasts to cover the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has separate opening, overview and detail paragraphs, and “Overall,” “Initially” and “Secondly” signal stages of the report. This gives it some organisation. However, progression is limited: the overview repeats the introduction, while the body lists figures rather than grouping them into meaningful comparisons. The sequence “At that time” followed by “and at last” is awkward, and “Secondly” does not clearly connect the second year’s figures to the first year’s. Some punctuation and spacing also make the flow less smooth. Organise the details around the main change—improved satisfaction after refurbishment—and use clear links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile” to show how the categories compare.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “surveys,” “satisfied” and “refurbished,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “guests of place” and “travellers” are unsuitable substitutes for visitors, while “uncomfortable” does not accurately describe people who were dissatisfied. There are also spelling errors such as “satsfied” and “satisfication.” Use the chart’s category labels consistently and choose precise reporting language rather than varying terms for the same group. This would make the account clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify which year and figures you mean. However, the range of structures is limited, and frequent errors affect accuracy. For example, “The table under illustrate” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “the year before and the year after it was renovate” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic in “there were 35% that very satisfied” and “ashdown museum.They.” These errors make some sentences awkward or unclear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, such as “35% of visitors were very satisfied,” and check agreement, articles and punctuation when editing.
