Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given table illustrates the numbers of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished. The pie charts compare the result of surveys asking visitors how satisfied they were with their visit, during the same two periods.
Overall, it is clear that after refurbishment, the number of visitors increased than before. It is commonly observed that the highest proportion of satisfied and dissatified are increased after refurbishment as compared to others.
Looking into the details of survey, the very satified and satisfied recorded 35% and 40% after refurbishment and 15% dissatified and no response and satisfied accounted 5%. On the other hand side, 15% very satisfied, 30% satisfied abd 40% dissatisfied were accounted before refurbishment.
In table, before refurbishmnet figured out 74000 visitors visited museum and 92000 people enjoyed museum after refurbishment year..

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two periods and report the visitor totals correctly: 74,000 before and 92,000 after refurbishment. You also include several survey percentages, but the account is incomplete and partly inaccurate. For example, the after-refurbishment figures are presented unclearly: “15% dissatified and no response and satisfied accounted 5%” does not correctly report the chart, where dissatisfied was 15%, very dissatisfied 5%, and no response 5%. The overview also says the highest proportions of both satisfied and dissatisfied visitors increased, although dissatisfaction fell overall. The response is 103 words, below the required 150, which limits the detail and coverage. Add a clear overview and compare the main positive and negative satisfaction changes accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to survey details and visitor totals. However, progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph returns to the table after the survey discussion, and the overview’s comparison is difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” show an attempt to connect information, but the contrast is not fully developed, while “Looking into the details of survey” does not lead into a clear, orderly account. Group the information by period or by changes in satisfaction, and use each paragraph for a distinct purpose. Clearer sequencing and more precise references would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “survey,” and “accounted,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce clarity. “The highest proportion of satisfied and dissatified are increased” is imprecise, and “people enjoyed museum” does not accurately express the visitor total. There are also spelling errors such as “satified,” “dissatified,” “abd,” and “refurbishmnet.” Use precise terms for the survey categories, such as “very satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” and “very dissatisfied,” and choose verbs that describe data naturally, for example, “rose,” “fell,” or “accounted for.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview beginning “Overall” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the data difficult to interpret. In “the number of visitors increased than before,” the comparative structure is incorrect; write “increased compared with the previous year.” The sentence “the highest proportion of satisfied and dissatified are increased” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. In “15% very satisfied, 30% satisfied and 40% dissatisfied were accounted before refurbishment,” the passive structure and preposition are faulty. The final sentence also has awkward tense and punctuation. Practise accurate comparative forms and simple, complete sentences before adding more complex structures.
