Student answer (Band 5.5)

The table gives us the information about the number of visitors who visited Ashdown museum year before and after it was renovated. The two pie charts show the outcome of survey asking the tourist about their services how they satisfied from it during both periods.

Overall, their is a huge increase in the satisfaction of the visitors after reconstruction. While the number of visitors also increased, with increasing their satisfaction.

To begin with the number of visitors increased form 74000 to 92000 after refurbishment. The ratio of very satisfied and satisfied rise from 15 and 30 to 35 and 40 respectively after refurbishment. However, the dissatisfied visitors ratio decrease from 40 to 15 which means they are satisfied after refusbishment.

After that, the very dissatisfied are also decline from 10 to 15 when the changes occur. While the number of no response visitors remains the same at 5 their is no changes seen.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction surveys, and your overview correctly identifies that visitor numbers and satisfaction improved after refurbishment. The figures for visitors and the satisfied categories are accurate: 74,000 rose to 92,000, while the satisfied and very satisfied shares increased from 30% and 15% to 40% and 35%. However, one key comparison is misreported: very dissatisfied responses fell from 10% to 5%, not increased to 15%; 15% was the after-refurbishment figure for dissatisfied visitors. The overview could also be more precise by highlighting the shift from dissatisfaction being the largest category before refurbishment to satisfaction being dominant afterwards. This covers the task, though some details and comparisons need clearer development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. This helps the reader follow the main topics, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “After that” signal progression. However, the organisation is sometimes mechanical, and the final paragraph groups the very dissatisfied and no-response figures without clearly contrasting them with the other categories. Some links are also unclear: “While the number of visitors also increased, with increasing their satisfaction” is not a complete, well-connected sentence. Use more direct comparisons and organise the survey figures by their overall direction of change, while ensuring each sentence connects clearly to the previous point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfaction,” “dissatisfied,” and “ratio,” so the topic is generally clear. There is some variation in wording, such as “renovated” and “reconstruction,” but these are not always the most precise choices for describing the chart. Several word-choice, form, and spelling problems reduce accuracy: “their services” does not express visitor satisfaction, “form” should be “from,” and “refusbishment” is misspelled. “Ratio” is also less suitable than “percentage” for these survey results. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling, especially for repeated key terms; this would make your adequate range more accurate and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “However” and a clause beginning “which means.” Some sentences communicate the main information, but grammatical errors are frequent enough to make parts awkward or unclear. For example, “year before and after it was renovated” needs articles and a clearer time expression, while “survey asking the tourist about their services how they satisfied from it” has an unclear clause structure. The overview sentence beginning “While” is also incomplete, and “the very dissatisfied are also decline” has an incorrect verb form. Practise complete sentence construction, subject–verb agreement, and consistent past-tense reporting, then proofread articles and punctuation.
