Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction surveys, and most figures are reported accurately: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while satisfaction increased after refurbishment. Your overview identifies the main category shifts, including dissatisfaction being highest before and satisfaction highest afterwards. However, the overview is not fully clear, and the claim that “satisfied” was the highest category after refurbishment is inaccurate: 40% were dissatisfied and 40% satisfied, so they were joint highest. There is also a data error where you write “very satisfied” twice for the pre-refurbishment results; the 10% figure is “very dissatisfied.” The main features are relevant, but comparisons and the significance of the changes could be developed more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the visitor total and survey results. This helps the reader locate the information. However, progression within the survey paragraph is weakened by a long sequence of similar statements beginning with “As well as,” “Furthermore,” “Additionally,” and “Moreover.” Some linking phrases are awkward or do not show a clear relationship, particularly “At least but not last” and “At the end of the result.” The overview also combines several comparisons in one sentence, making the main message difficult to follow. Grouping the survey results into before-and-after comparisons, and using fewer, more precise transitions, would make the organisation more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfaction,” and “dissatisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “proportion of individuals” for visitor numbers and “how liked they were with their visit.” Repetition of “the result(s) of surveys of visitor satisfaction” also makes the report less natural. Spelling errors such as “rufurbished,” “refubishment,” and “satifaction” further reduce precision. Aim to use standard chart-reporting expressions consistently, such as “the percentage of respondents who were satisfied,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate and varied phrasing would make the information clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the figures you report. However, sentence structure and agreement are not consistently controlled. For example, “The table illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the highest number … during the year after refurbishment” is an incomplete sentence because it lacks a clear verb. The opening sentence also joins ideas without a well-formed structure, and “very satisfied is is 10%” contains an unnecessary repeated verb. Articles and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “in overview” and the spacing before commas. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
