Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You include figures from both survey periods and identify the broad improvement in satisfaction after refurbishment. For example, you report the before-and-after percentages for satisfied and dissatisfied visitors, and note that non-response stayed at 5%. However, the response does not clearly summarise the most important overall features: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and the balance shifted from dissatisfaction being the largest group before refurbishment to satisfaction being the largest afterwards. The opening misidentifies the display as a pie chart and focuses on what the survey team did rather than presenting a clear overview. Some comparisons are also imprecise, such as saying satisfaction “increase about 10%” without distinguishing percentage points from percentages. A concise overview and accurate comparison of the main trends would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a basic before-and-after order, which helps readers locate the figures, and the second paragraph generally reports the post-refurbishment results. However, the overall progression is limited: the opening is difficult to follow, the final sentence (“There is improve by doing refurbishment”) repeats a conclusion without developing it, and there is no clear overview separating the main trends from supporting details. Connections such as “In which” and “means” are used awkwardly or repetitively, so relationships between figures are not always clear. Organise the report into a brief introduction, an overview of the key changes, and paragraphs comparing the data. Use linking phrases selectively to show contrast and change.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” and “decrease,” and readers can usually identify the categories being described. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning harder to understand. Examples include “numbers of peoples are visits,” “very happy/satisfied,” and “make as new museum.” “Peoples” is not appropriate for counting visitors, and “unhappy to visit” does not precisely describe survey dissatisfaction. Repetition of “visitors” and “refurbishment” also limits flexibility. Build a more precise set of chart-reporting expressions, such as “the proportion of respondents,” “visitor numbers,” “rose,” and “fell,” and use the same category labels consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences and comparisons, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make the text difficult to read. For instance, “The pie chart shows the numbers of peoples are visits” has problems with sentence structure and verb form, while “After refurbishment of Ashdown Museum, there 35% visitors” lacks a correctly formed clause. Agreement and articles are also unreliable, as in “the people does not any response,” and punctuation is often missing between sentences. Most statements rely on simple patterns or become faulty when extended. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses using “while” or “whereas.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
