Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall changes: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and satisfaction was generally higher after refurbishment. You also report the pre-refurbishment dissatisfaction figure of 40% and the 5% who gave no response. These are relevant and accurate features. However, the account of the survey results is incomplete: you do not report the 15% very satisfied and 30% satisfied before refurbishment, or clearly compare the post-refurbishment figures of 35% very satisfied, 40% satisfied, 15% dissatisfied and 5% very dissatisfied. The overview also says satisfaction increased without distinguishing the two positive categories. Covering both periods more fully and selecting the key contrasts would make the summary more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable opening, an overview and two body sections, and the sequence from visitor totals to survey results is broadly logical. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “First of all” and “secondly” help signal movement between points. However, progression is uneven: the first body paragraph combines the visitor total with only a small part of the first survey, while the final paragraph gives just one post-refurbishment figure. Some linking is mechanical, and “And” begins a sentence in the overview without a clear connection to the preceding point. Organise the body around a direct before-and-after comparison of satisfaction, and use clearer references to the two survey periods so the reader can follow the comparisons more easily.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbished,” “survey,” “dissatisfied” and “response,” and the main message remains understandable. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated use of “number” and “visitor” and several inaccurate or misspelled forms, such as “vistors,” “satisifaction” and “dissatisified.” Some word combinations are unnatural: “how agree they were with there visit” does not express satisfaction clearly, and “the number of satisfaction” is not an appropriate phrase. Choose precise terms such as “proportion of respondents” and “reported being satisfied,” and check spelling and collocations. This would make the description more fluent and reduce moments when the reader has to infer your meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the basic comparisons can usually be understood. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “The pie charts demonstrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the number of visitors who visit museum … roses” contains an unclear relative clause and an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “And in survey before refurbishment…” is also awkwardly constructed, and “it increases and goes to 92,000” shifts tense unnecessarily when describing completed periods. Practise forming clear past-tense comparison sentences, with accurate articles and plural forms. Breaking longer, uncertain sentences into well-controlled clauses will improve accuracy while still allowing you to show a range of structures.
