Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main figures accurately: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, satisfaction increased in both positive categories, and dissatisfaction fell; the unchanged 5% with no response is also included. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of these main trends. Instead, it mainly lists individual percentages, and the opening repeats and confuses what the table and charts show. The first sentence also refers to “tourists,” although the task concerns museum visitors. To strengthen the report, give a concise overview after the introduction—for example, that attendance and satisfaction increased overall while dissatisfaction declined—then select the most important figures to support it. This would make the task coverage clearer and the key features less under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a broadly understandable order, moving from an introduction to visitor numbers and then survey results. The figures can generally be followed, and “On the other hand” signals a shift to the satisfaction data. However, there is no clear overall progression: the first two sentences repeat the same introductory information, and the report moves directly into a list of percentages without an overview or grouping of related trends. Linking phrases such as “There are also” are repetitive, while “On the other hand” does not clearly express the relationship between the attendance figures and survey results. Use distinct paragraphs for the introduction, overview and details, and group the positive and negative satisfaction results to make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied” and “no response,” so the reader can identify the categories being compared. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “counting of tourists” is not a natural way to describe the table, and “how comforts are they with their tour” does not accurately express visitor satisfaction. There are also spelling errors in “Meseum,” “refurbrished” and “measeum.” Aim for precise, repeated-use terms such as “number of visitors,” “survey respondents” and “satisfaction levels,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates the basic comparisons, but it relies mainly on simple sentence patterns and contains frequent errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For instance, “The table describe” should use a plural verb, while “the total number of visitor … are” has a mismatch between the singular subject and verb. The opening also joins ideas awkwardly with “while,” and the phrase “in the both time” shows problems with article use and grammatical phrasing. These errors recur, although the figures and broad meaning remain understandable. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then add controlled complex structures, such as clauses with “whereas” or “while,” checking subject–verb agreement and articles in each sentence.
