Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the main contrast: dissatisfaction was the largest group before refurbishment, while satisfaction was most common afterwards. Most figures are reported accurately, including visitor satisfaction at 40% dissatisfied before and 40% satisfied after. However, the overview is brief, and the response does not report the important rise in total visitors from 74,000 to 92,000. The comparison that very dissatisfied and very satisfied were in a “similar position” before is also imprecise, as their figures were 10% and 15%. The response is 137 words, below the 150-word minimum, and 29 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Add a fuller overview and cover the visitor totals to address the task more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an opening overview is followed by one paragraph for each period, so the reader can distinguish the before-and-after information. The repeated phrases “in the context” and “the most ... position,” however, make the progression mechanical, and the long opening sentence combines the chart description and overview without clear punctuation. Within the data paragraphs, rankings are generally presented in a sensible order, but the comparisons between categories could be linked more clearly. Use concise topic sentences and connectors such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile,” and separate the overview from the detailed figures to make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” “satisfied,” and “percentage,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated or unnatural, such as “the most highest position,” “second position,” and “similar position.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “compaire,” “thr,” “contaxt,” and “simmilar,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Aim for more precise chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a category as “accounted for” a percentage or say it “ranked second,” rather than repeatedly referring to its “position.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses simple present-tense statements and attempts some longer sentences, but control is inconsistent. The opening sentence runs several clauses together without appropriate punctuation, while “the very dissatisfied and very satisfied is” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “they were their visit,” the sentence is missing a necessary preposition, and the phrase “which was 10% to 15” does not form a clear grammatical comparison. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise writing complete sentences with clear clause boundaries, and check agreement and sentence patterns. A wider range of accurately controlled structures would make the data comparisons clearer.
