Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main visitor totals accurately: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and you identify several changes in satisfaction, including the rise in “very satisfied” responses and the fall in “very dissatisfied” ones. However, the response does not give a clear overall summary of the survey’s main shift: positive ratings increased overall, while dissatisfaction declined. Some comparisons are also unclear or inaccurate. For example, you say the “majority” were unsatisfied before refurbishment, although the dissatisfied category was 40%, not a majority, and the statement that this was “similar to” the post-refurbishment satisfied figure is confusing. A clearer overview and more precise reporting of the categories would make the key features easier to understand.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with the visitor totals and then moves to survey results, so the reader can recognise the two main parts of the task. However, progression within the survey paragraph is difficult to follow, and the opening sentence is overloaded. Linking phrases such as “Firstly to begin with,” “as mentioned above,” and “Back then” are repetitive or imprecise rather than guiding the comparison. The separate line “Feedback of the visitors…” does not function as a clear overview or a well-developed paragraph. Group the figures into a logical sequence—for example, positive responses, negative responses, then no response—and use clear references to the before and after periods.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing change, including “surge,” “rose,” “increased,” and “reduced,” and the reader can generally identify the topic. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “visitors,” “renovation,” and “satisfied,” while several choices are imprecise for this chart. “Guests” is less suitable than “visitors,” and “feedback” does not accurately describe the satisfaction categories shown. Phrases such as “slight surge” also understate the increase in attendance. Aim for precise chart language and vary expressions for proportions and change, such as “accounted for,” “declined,” or “the proportion of respondents.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts longer sentences and comparisons, but complex structures are often difficult to control, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “the number of guests visited after renovation” is missing a relative structure, while “the visitors which were satisfied was about 30%” has problems with relative pronoun choice and subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence also lacks clear punctuation and contains an awkwardly joined sequence of clauses. There are some simpler, understandable statements, such as “No feedback from the visitors was exactly same,” but article use and sentence boundaries need attention. Practise writing shorter, complete comparison sentences, then combine them accurately with clauses such as “whereas” or “which.”
