Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main subject and report several relevant figures, including the rise in visitors from 74,000 to 92,000 and the unchanged 5% with no response. You also capture the broad shift from dissatisfaction before refurbishment to greater satisfaction afterwards. However, some figures are misreported: before refurbishment, 10% were very dissatisfied and 15% were very satisfied, but you reverse these in “very dissatisfied … (10%)” and “very satisfied … (15%)”. The overview is also unclear and does not clearly summarise the contrasting satisfaction pattern. The response contains 135 words, below the 150-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. Check each category against the chart and add a concise, accurate overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce the visuals, describe the year before refurbishment, and then move to the year after. This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, the progression is weakened by the lack of clear paragraphing and by abrupt or incomplete transitions, such as “Overall, It can clearly be seen that dramatically increase…” and “Looking at the detail in data…”. Linking words are sometimes used inaccurately or awkwardly, particularly “while” and “comparison”, so relationships between figures are not always clear. Group the overview separately, then compare the two periods in a logical order, using simple links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” only where they fit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment”, “visitor satisfaction”, “dissatisfied” and “accounts for”, and you attempt to describe change with “rose”. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand: “totall”, “befor”, “reapone”, “capmare” and “uncaged”. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the amount of people” and “the very satisfied level”. Use precise chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, refer to “the number of visitors” and “the proportion of visitors who were very satisfied”. This would make your comparisons clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine information in longer sentences, but control is inconsistent and errors often make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The table illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Overall, It can clearly be seen that dramatically increase…” lacks a complete grammatical structure. The sentence beginning “40% visitors dissatisfied” is also missing necessary grammatical elements, and punctuation around “while” and “However” is unreliable. Most sentences rely on basic patterns, with complex links often becoming faulty. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and punctuation. For instance: “The number of visitors increased to 92,000 after the refurbishment.”
