Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main increase in visitor numbers, from 74,000 to 92,000, and recognise that satisfaction improved after refurbishment. However, the survey account is incomplete and includes a major data error: before refurbishment, 40% were dissatisfied and 10% very dissatisfied, rather than “around 50%” being dissatisfied as one group; after refurbishment, 35% were very satisfied, not approximately 50%. The response also stops before reporting the after-period satisfied figure or comparing the remaining categories, so the charts are only partly covered. The overview is relevant, but the supporting details are limited and sometimes unclear. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum. To improve, report the key categories accurately and complete the comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

There is a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview beginning “Overall,” and detail about visitor numbers followed by survey results. This gives the response a basic progression, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “On moving further” signal a shift in focus. However, the final paragraph ends mid-thought at “followed by satisfied rates,” leaving the information unfinished and weakening the progression. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “while the pie chart revealed” and “At the same time,” which does not clearly show the relationship between the figures. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the visitor totals and survey comparisons, and connect each comparison explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “survey,” “positive feedback,” and “dissatisfied,” and you use some variation rather than relying on one repeated term. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations are frequent enough to make parts difficult to understand: examples include “voisitors,” “befor,” “tourist ofen visit,” and “satisfied the museum.” Some wording is also imprecise, such as calling the table a “table chart” and the survey graphic a “pie chart.” Choose standard chart-reporting expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, say that visitors “were satisfied with the facilities” and that the charts “show survey results.” This would make your limited vocabulary more precise and easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You make some attempts at complex sentences, including the overview with “while” and the sentence beginning “To begin with,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur in examples such as “total number of visitors … increased after … as before” and “which … increased to 92000,” where the comparison and clause construction are incomplete. Articles and agreement are also unreliable, as in “total number” and “the pie chart revealed that visitors positive feedback … increased.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention: the survey details run together, and the final sentence is unfinished. Practise writing complete, direct sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense, articles, and punctuation.
