Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates the number of people visited the Ashdown Museum before and after the refurbishment. The chart represents their satisfaction level during both the periods.

Overall, there is a positive growth seen in figures of satisfaction after the renovation. Moreover, dissatisfaction related votes reduced drastically in second period. Also, no signicant change was there in no response catagory.

In survey, 'Very satisfied' votes increased to 35, which was earlier 15, which is more than double.

Similarly, rapid change has been seen in 'satisfied' catagory. However, In dissatisfied , there is drastic reduction from 40 to just 15 in second period. It is the most significant flow noticed.

Moving forward, similar decreasing shift in levels of 'very dissatisfied' can be observed. Before renovation it was 10 and after renovation it dropped to 5 percent. Apart from these, there was no change in 'No response', it remanined same during both the periods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main overall pattern: satisfaction improved after refurbishment, while dissatisfaction fell, and you note that non-responses stayed unchanged. Several figures are accurately reported, including very satisfied responses rising from 15 to 35 and dissatisfied responses dropping from 40 to 15. However, the table’s visitor totals—74,000 before and 92,000 after—are not reported, leaving an important part of the task uncovered. The increase in the satisfied category is described as “rapid” but its figures are omitted, and the overview could compare the strongest changes more precisely. Include both visitor totals and the key satisfaction percentages to make the summary more complete and clearly grounded in the data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing survey categories. This makes the main direction of change easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Similarly,” and “Apart from these” help connect points, although some transitions feel mechanical or do not add much. The sequence of categories is understandable, but the visitor totals are not integrated into the account, and the final paragraph ends without a concluding comparison. Some references, such as “which was earlier 15,” are also awkward to follow. Organise the details into a more deliberate comparison of the two periods, and use concise links that clarify how each figure relates to the overall trend.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “satisfaction,” “dissatisfaction,” “reduced,” and “increased,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “drastic reduction” and “decreasing shift.” However, some choices are unnatural or imprecise: “positive growth seen in figures of satisfaction” and “most significant flow noticed” do not express the trends idiomatically. Spelling errors in “signicant,” “catagory,” and “remanined” also reduce accuracy. Prefer standard chart-reporting phrases such as “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied rose” and “the sharpest change,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons such as “Before renovation it was 10 and after renovation it dropped to 5 percent.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the number of people visited” needs a relative clause or a different construction, and “which was earlier 15” is an awkward, incomplete comparison. The sentence beginning “However, In dissatisfied” lacks a clear grammatical subject, while “no significant change was there” uses an unnatural word order. Use complete subjects and verbs, maintain consistent sentence patterns, and punctuate sentence openings consistently to improve control.
