Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main increase in attendance, from 74,000 to 92,000, and note the broad shift towards greater satisfaction after refurbishment. However, the satisfaction figures for the second period are not clearly reported: “there were 35%,40%. respectively” does not identify which figure belongs to each category, and the after-refurbishment figures for dissatisfaction and no response are omitted. The overview also says satisfaction “rises” without clearly summarising the sharp fall in dissatisfied responses. The response is 13 words below the required minimum, which contributes to the limited development. Include the key category comparisons and explain the overall contrast more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for visitor numbers and satisfaction. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In the same way,” and “However” help signal relationships. To make the progression clearer, organise the satisfaction data consistently by period or by positive and negative responses. The final sentence, “there were 35%,40%. respectively,” is difficult to connect to the categories, so its reference is unclear. Avoid using “In the same way” where the relationship is more specifically a comparison, and ensure each paragraph develops its main point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “increased significantly,” “satisfaction rate,” “proportion,” and “refurbishment.” Some choices, however, are inaccurate or unnatural for describing this chart: “population of visitors” and “total number of population” are not suitable for visitor counts, while “consequence of compaign” does not express survey results. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “yar,” “compaign,” and “refiurbishment,” which reduce precision. Use straightforward, accurate terms rather than forcing less suitable expressions. For example, describe the figures as the “number of visitors” and refer to the charts as “survey results” or “levels of satisfaction.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and some longer structures, such as “while the two bar charts illustrates…” and “After the reconstruction, the number of people surged up and reached 92,000.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships or figures harder to follow. In the opening sentence, the plural subject “charts” requires “illustrate,” not “illustrates.” The phrase “the people were 30% satisfied” also uses an awkward grammatical construction for reporting proportions; write, for example, “30% of visitors were satisfied.” The final sentence lacks a clear grammatical link between the two percentages and their categories. Check subject–verb agreement and build complete, clearly connected sentences when comparing data.
