Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction surveys, and your overview identifies the two main changes: attendance rose after refurbishment, while satisfaction improved. The figures you report for visitors and the four satisfaction categories are accurate. To make the key features more fully developed, include the unchanged 5% who gave no response in both years and make the contrast in dissatisfaction explicit: the dissatisfied share fell from 40% to 15%, while the very dissatisfied share dropped from 10% to 5%. Your overview says satisfied visitors formed the largest proportion after refurbishment, but the 40% satisfied and 35% very satisfied groups are both important; describe the overall shift from negative to positive responses more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear four-paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, visitor numbers, and survey results. This gives the information a logical progression, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “While” help signal relationships. The organisation is generally easy to follow, though some transitions are mechanical or awkward, particularly the repeated “On the term of” at the start of the final two body paragraphs. The final sentence also begins with “While” but is not joined to a main clause, which weakens the connection between ideas. Use more natural topic sentences and connect the contrast within complete sentences to make cohesion smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing the charts, including “increased significantly,” “proportion,” and “comprised,” and the reader can understand the main comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “pier charts,” “On the term of,” and “not satisfied at all” for the chart’s “very dissatisfied” category. There are also spelling errors in “refrurbished,” “refrurbishement,” and “satisafction.” Repeating “renovation,” “reconstruction,” “upgrading,” and “improvement” for refurbishment does not add precision and can make the description less consistent. Prefer accurate chart terminology and a smaller set of natural, precise expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison with “while” and an overview beginning “Overall.” The main information remains understandable, but some grammatical errors persist. For example, “the number … was 74,000 person” has a singular/plural agreement problem, and “15% was very satisfied” uses an awkward construction for describing survey respondents. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “30% are satisfied” alongside “40% was dissatisfied.” The final “While during the year after improvement…” clause is a fragment because it lacks a main clause. Use consistent past-tense reporting and structures such as “15% of visitors were very satisfied”; check agreement and ensure every subordinate clause is attached to a complete sentence.
