Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You include the main categories of satisfaction and report most of their percentages accurately: for example, before refurbishment, 15% were very satisfied and 40% dissatisfied, while afterwards these figures were 35% and 15%. You also identify the broad improvement in satisfaction. However, the overview is unclear and does not report the table’s key visitor totals of 74,000 and 92,000. The claim that the number of visitors “doubled” is inaccurate; the total rose, but not by that amount. Some details are also expressed as numbers of visitors rather than percentages, which misrepresents the chart. To develop the response more fully, clearly summarise both the increase in attendance and the shift towards satisfaction, then compare the survey figures accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a comparison, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In contrast” help signal relationships. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview repeats the task description, and the sentence beginning “Survey’s result involve…” is difficult to follow. The paragraph about the first year ends with an incomplete statement, “Total no of vistor during year before refurbishment,” leaving the visitor total unreported. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, particularly “in contrast to, the year after…”. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and the detailed comparisons, and connect each comparison directly to its relevant figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfaction level,” and “decrease,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the report less clear, such as “visting,” “vistors,” “demostrate,” and “dissatified.” Phrases such as “numbers of tourists visting to the Ashdown museum” and “doubled about 35 visitors” are not natural or precise for describing survey percentages. Use standard chart-reporting language and distinguish percentages from visitor totals. Accurate terms such as “accounted for,” “rose to,” and “the proportion of respondents” would make comparisons clearer and more appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “The both pie charts illustrates” has problems with the article, word order and subject–verb agreement, while “15 vistor was very satisfied people” does not form a clear grammatical sentence. The sentence beginning “Overall, the chart demostrate…” also lacks clear structure and punctuation. Many statements are fragments, including “Total no of vistor during year before refurbishment.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, plurals and punctuation. A reliable pattern such as “The proportion of visitors who were satisfied rose from 30% to 40%” would help you express comparisons accurately.
