Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear preference for government funding: “research should be carried by government.” You also give relevant reasons, especially that public funding could make medicines more affordable and that taxpayers contribute to government revenue. However, the response is incomplete and does not fully develop the comparison requested between government, private companies and individuals. The discussion of private companies is difficult to follow, and individuals are not meaningfully considered. The final sentence is unfinished, leaving an idea incomplete. The response contains 218 words, so it is 32 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not included in that count. Develop each reason with a clear explanation or example, and complete the essay before submitting it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has an introduction followed by two body paragraphs, and “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal a contrast. This gives the reader some sense of the intended structure. However, ideas are not arranged in a consistently clear progression: the first body paragraph moves from government funding to affordability and taxes without explaining the links, while the second paragraph’s point about government tenders and private companies is hard to interpret. Repeated use of “so” and “in my opinion” makes connections mechanical, and references such as “he” and “our money” are unclear. The final sentence stops at “Because the companies,” disrupting the ending. Use one main point per paragraph, explain each link, and finish with a concise conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “medical research,” “fund,” “medicines,” “afford,” and “tax,” so the general subject is identifiable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “fund” and “every project” appearing repeatedly, and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear. For example, “transfer the fund” is not a natural way to describe financing research, and “give the relief of our nation” does not clearly express the intended benefit. Spelling errors such as “Nowsdays,” “transer,” “orivate,” and “beacause” also weaken clarity. Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling; alternatives such as “provide funding” and “make treatment affordable” would express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “Because the every person of our country paid tax to the government.” However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms are frequent enough to make several ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “government want to funded,” “if government transfer the fund … so,” and “When the medicines comes into the market,” where verb forms and agreement are not controlled. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “the every person” and the unfinished final sentence. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then join them with one clear subordinate clause. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms after “want,” and punctuation before adding further clauses.
