Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, a number of medical research projects are sponsored by exclusive companies. However, this task will examine that the research would be provided by personal companies, public or authorities. Furthermore, we will discusses about the causes and share my perspective.

To begin with, medical investigation projects would be an integral part of medical field, however it would be provided by officials. One of the major reason is that, the expenditures are significantly high for the medical study projects. For example, in COVID19 the situation is highly exacerbate over the world and the states are only provide required costs for these research programs. Secondly, private companies are also crucial in some conditions, if they held their personal research on some medicines which are not costly and under the state level then it can easily carried by private companies.

Nevertheless, the public are not suitable for these research programs because they are particularly not known about medical study. Moreover, public has mixed emotions if the research would be on some animals, which can be use in several experiments. For instance, numerous reptiles skin could have been use in some medical research. Due to these concerns, i strongly believe that investigation programs are only held by the authorities.

In conclusion, nowadays medical study projects should be funded by governments due to high amount of money spent on these projects. In addition, socities would also contiribute to donate for these programs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the roles of private companies, individuals, and the government in medical research. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While a position is stated, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding public involvement is unclear, as the term 'public' is used to refer to individuals rather than the general population. The conclusion introduces a new point about public donations that was not previously discussed, which disrupts the logical flow. To improve, you should expand on your reasoning with more specific examples and ensure the word count requirement is met to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'Nevertheless' to structure the paragraphs. However, the logical progression is sometimes hindered by unclear referencing. For instance, the transition between the role of private companies and the mention of the 'public' is abrupt and confusing. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs lack a strong, cohesive link. The final paragraph introduces a new idea ('societies would also contribute to donate') which is not well-integrated into the overall argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are instances of awkward word choices, such as 'exclusive companies' instead of 'private companies' and 'the situation is highly exacerbate' instead of 'exacerbated'. Some phrasing is repetitive, and the use of 'personal companies' is non-standard. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of medical research and funding. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express your ideas more clearly and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'a number of medical research projects are sponsored' (should be 'have been' or 'are being'), 'the states are only provide' (should be 'only provide'), and 'numerous reptiles skin could have been use' (should be 'reptile skin could have been used'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are areas that need significant attention. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic tense and agreement errors to improve accuracy.
