Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that many medical research projects are funded by private companies, while other believe that it should be carried by individuals and government as well. This Essay will discuss all perspectives before presenting my opinion that all should contribute in their own ways.
In this modern world, we are finding that private companies give money to projects related to medical research. One of the main reasons for this is profit which is mandatory for each company to expand more in the future. As, everybody knows that, our lifestyle is completely changed, people are getting sick and there will be an increase in diseases and with this, there will be a rise in patients as well. Private companies using medical research projects for their own benefits. Furthermore, it is clearly seen that people can't avoid doctors suggestions, People are emotionally connected to their families and they can pay huge amount to doctors because cure will be in their hands. And companies will take advantage of this, if the projects get huge success then that will benefit their business. On the other hand, Government is not taking these projects seriously.
In my opinion, Government should take part in this. Government should know that people's health is also its responsibility. Health plays a crucial role. For instance, number of people died with many diseases whose names are not even identified. We are losing our youngsters, children and many more just in negligence. We are losing young minds of our nation. As an individual, we should also participate in medical research projects, and we should run a campaign , so we can contribute to medical research projects. In a conclusion, according to me, we should all contribute to medical research projects in our own ways.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing the roles of private companies, the government, and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding private companies is focused on profit motives, which is relevant, but the section on government and individual contributions is less developed and lacks specific, concrete examples. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be extended with more depth and logical progression to reach a higher band. The essay remains on-topic throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'In my opinion', 'In a conclusion'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing could be smoother. While the overall structure is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and occasional awkward phrasing in transitions prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using less common vocabulary, such as 'mandatory' and 'negligence', but there are also instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'give money to projects' instead of 'fund' or 'finance'. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'cure will be in their hands'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the government', 'a conclusion'), subject-verb agreement ('other believe'), and punctuation. For example, the sentence 'As, everybody knows that, our lifestyle is completely changed' contains unnecessary commas and awkward phrasing. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from achieving a higher band. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would be beneficial.
