Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. In your opinion, do you think that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or government?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this concurrent society many private organizations are sourcing funds to various medical research projects. Personally, I believe that it does not matter that who contributes their money to help in developing medical sector.
On the one hand, funding should be not a matter of concern for anyone if the money is utilized in a positive manner. Moreover, many private companies contribute money in order to hope a better medical facilities in future. For instance, TATA corporations from India gives a huge sum of their profits to medical science as well as to other needy people. However, Due to the greed of people the contributed funds are not allocated as it should be. This caused a major failure in trust between organizations.
On the other hand, I assume that government should implement various methods to make sure the donated money is using by research teams properly. Furthermore, Government also plays a significant role in the development in every sector by providing funds to have a deeper search. For example, government introduced an initiative in regard to further medical developments. Surprisingly the team was performed in an unexpected way to achieve various advancements in artificial surgeries.
In summary, I would concede that funding plays an important aspect in development. However, source of funding does not play as significant as everyone thinks. Overall, I am convinced that donating money to right hands can improve human civilisation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments remain somewhat superficial. For example, you mention that 'greed' causes trust issues but do not elaborate on how this affects the efficacy of private funding. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed examples and fully explore the implications of your arguments to reach the required length and depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and you use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition from discussing private companies to the issue of 'greed' is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'the team was performed in an unexpected way', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some basic collocations like 'medical sector' and 'medical developments', but there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'sourcing funds to' instead of 'funding' or 'providing funds to'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'the money is using by' (should be 'being used by'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'does not matter that who contributes' (should be 'does not matter who contributes'), 'funding should be not a matter' (should be 'should not be'), and 'the team was performed' (should be 'the team performed'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of your writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct passive voice construction will significantly improve your accuracy.
