Student answer (Band 6.0)
In my opinion , government should carry forward medical research projects. As healthcare is the public necessity, so research projects should be funded by government. They research about the diseases affecting large amount of populations.
And we can also see that there is huge population from rural areas , so the people who are poor . So if the medicines are funded by private companies . the cost will be always high . So poor and rural based people cannot afford it . But when the medicines are government funded , all the people will afford them .
Also , many researches takes a lot of time which can be many months or even many years. So i think , government will be the one who can support these kind of researches . As many private companies will avoid these kind of projects , because they don't give instant profit .
Also we can see that government funded researches are more likely to have strict rules and guidelines. This is the plus point for them. So, the number of unsafe or unethical practices can be reduced.
One more thing is that , government funded solutions are more likely to reach to both urban and rural people or areas .
Also ,government have there connections globally . Government often collaborate with other countries to solve global health related issues . So this will help to solve the problems on high level with appropriate solutions.
So in my opinion . medical research projects should be funded by government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by arguing for government-funded medical research. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as affordability, ethical oversight, and global collaboration, the ideas are presented in a repetitive, list-like fashion rather than being fully extended with specific examples or nuanced analysis. The position is clear, but the essay lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should aim to provide concrete examples—such as mentioning a specific type of disease or a real-world scenario—to support your arguments more effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into short, choppy paragraphs that lack a sophisticated flow. You rely heavily on repetitive sentence starters like 'Also' and 'So', which makes the progression feel mechanical rather than natural. While there is a logical sequence of ideas, the lack of varied cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition to this') hinders the overall readability. Paragraphing is present, but the paragraphs are very brief and do not effectively group related ideas into a cohesive argument. Improving the use of transition words and varying sentence structure will significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is functional but basic. You use repetitive phrasing, such as 'government funded' and 'research projects', which limits the range of your expression. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and variety prevents a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'public health initiatives', 'financial accessibility', or 'regulatory frameworks', and avoid repeating the same words in close proximity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies mostly on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the government', 'a large amount of the population') and subject-verb agreement ('many researches takes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a better command of complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy.
