Student answer (Band 6.0)

In current situation, most of the medical research projects are funded by private companies, because most of the privates companies are do not have interest to work under the government guideline. In my opinion, I think that medical research should be always done by the government and privates companies.

To begin with, privates companies are take care about the less wastes material is produced because all the money for the medical research are provide by the companies so there profit ration is become less by the more wasting the material and from this less used of the natural resources that are used in the research. Furthermore, private companies should not have any kind of the pressure or monitoring by the government employees so they can not have any timeline for completing the work and they can complete the medical research with proper direction.

Besides this, if the research done by the government than all the financial crisis should handle by the government and medical researcher should not take care about the material providing. Additionally, the government should also provide the better and strong safety to the research area and the information of the health research can not be leak until the work is done and it is also good for the nation.

In conclusion, private research should not have the pressure of the monitoring and government should provide the safety of the research work. In my opinion I should partially agree with the private research and the government research projects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the roles of private companies and the government in medical research. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'less waste' in private companies is vague and lacks a clear logical connection to the funding source. Similarly, the point about government providing 'better and strong safety' is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or reasoning. While a position is stated, it is somewhat contradictory, as the introduction suggests both should be involved, but the conclusion focuses on specific benefits of each without fully synthesizing a cohesive argument. The response meets the basic requirements but lacks the depth needed for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the use of these devices is often mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'Besides this, if the research done by the government than all the financial crisis should handle by the government.' The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, making the logical flow feel disjointed at times. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more focused to improve overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'privates companies are take care about the less wastes material' and 'profit ration is become less.' The student struggles with word forms (e.g., 'less used of the natural resources'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the reliance on simple vocabulary limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to research, funding, and government policy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('privates companies are do not have interest'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures. There is a limited range of complex structures, and when they are attempted, they often contain errors that can cause the reader some difficulty, such as 'the information of the health research can not be leak until the work is done.' Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequent errors in basic grammar significantly impact the clarity of the writing.
