Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the funding of medical research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you mention private companies, individuals, and government, the essay focuses almost exclusively on private funding, failing to provide a balanced discussion on why individuals or governments might be better or worse alternatives. The position is clear, but the arguments are not fully extended. To improve, ensure each body paragraph explores a distinct aspect of the prompt and provides more specific, logical reasoning rather than repeating the same points about 'modern machines' and 'precision'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'To explain it' or 'To elaborate it'. Some transitions between sentences feel forced, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing. For example, the second paragraph jumps between ideas without smooth logical progression. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds naturally upon the previous one will help achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'useful', or 'new inventions'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'expands life-period' (should be 'increases life expectancy') and 'small mistakes can shows in result of death' (should be 'can lead to fatal results'). To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to medical research and technology, and avoid over-simplifying complex concepts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('mistakes can shows'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('should funded', 'surgery become more easier'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
