Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both government and private sector roles in medical research. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While the position is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about private companies having 'more money' is relevant but could be expanded with specific examples or a more nuanced discussion on the balance between profit and public health. The conclusion attempts to synthesize the arguments, but the overall development lacks the necessary detail to fully explore the complexities of the topic, resulting in a score that reflects the under-length and limited elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Moreover', 'Firstly', 'On the other hand'). Some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel slightly disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'If Government participate in surveys also development of country', where the connection between the two ideas is not explicitly stated. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'people', 'research', and 'treatment'. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'in few times' instead of 'in a shorter timeframe' or 'expansive' instead of 'expensive'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific collocations limits the score. To improve, you should focus on using more varied vocabulary related to medical ethics, funding models, and socioeconomic impacts to demonstrate a wider lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'development of country'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'government funded more' instead of 'government funds more'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'cure the people which are suffering'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels fragmented. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be noticeable throughout the text. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
