Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear preference for government-funded research. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the main points regarding public health and ethical regulations are relevant, they are under-developed and lack sufficient supporting examples. The discussion of private companies is also brief. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and specific, illustrative examples to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Many reasons are three of medical projects' and 'Another significant vital role is it must be provide'. These transitions do not flow naturally. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the subject of certain sentences. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect your ideas and improve the overall logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'research investigations regarding to medical' and 'ultrafied laboratories'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision. You often rely on basic phrasing, which limits your ability to convey complex ideas effectively. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to medical research and public policy, and pay closer attention to word forms and standard collocations to ensure your writing sounds more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('private companies has', 'they has more innovative ideas') and incorrect sentence structures ('They control and brought research to affordable medicines'). To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and sentence construction. Proofreading your work for these common errors will help you achieve a higher level of accuracy and clarity in your writing.
