Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you address the prompt by choosing a side, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth. For instance, the point about 'hygienic medicines' is vague and does not clearly explain why private funding is superior. The conclusion is repetitive and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples for each main point, and always aim to exceed the minimum word count to allow for full development of your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Lastly', which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between private funding and 'company name' is not clearly articulated. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow within paragraphs is often interrupted by grammatical errors that make it difficult to follow the argument. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'funded' and 'medical research'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'procs' (likely meaning pros/advantages) and 'private agency working hard for project'. Some phrasing is unnatural, such as 'private companies growth increasing by funded to the medical field'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context. Expanding your range of synonyms will also help avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'private agency working hard' and 'this projects are help'. Articles are frequently misused or omitted, for example, 'in india' and 'in medical research filed'. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'because this must help in better medicins'. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring correct verb tenses and the proper use of articles and prepositions to improve clarity and accuracy.
