Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today ear, the requirement for medical research is it on peak because of the environment change. As results private organizations preformed medical research project. In my opinion, the research can be done by public sector.

The most important reasons is that government is reliable to focus on the society needs than the profit. Private companies work on medical project for their financial purpose. As a results, the poor communities may be not get proper treatments which may be have bad impact of people life of the nation.

However, the private companies has important role for country. This organization has more fund for can easily provide advanced technology tool with highly skilled researchers. For example, the pharmaceutical companies have played a major role for developing covide vaccines. So private companies also help in medical department.

In my view, the best approach is that both government and private organization should work on medica research together. Government can provide funding and make strong and ethical rule and regulation, where as the private sectors can contribute their new technology. So this partnership can make make strong efficiency in public health.

In conclusion, although private companies have more valuable contributions in medical research. But government should have primarily responsible for funding and oversee the new research to improve public health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the roles of government and private companies in medical research. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While you present a clear position, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'poor communities' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or logical consequences. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum word count requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is weak, such as the transition between the second and third paragraphs. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the overall progression of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows naturally into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band score. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'today ear' (era), 'preformed' (performed), and 'medica' (medical). You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to research and public policy, and proofread carefully to avoid simple spelling errors that distract the reader from your message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'the requirement... is it on peak', 'government is reliable to focus', 'may be not get', and 'government should have primarily responsible'. These errors are persistent and occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. While you attempt to use complex sentences, the control over verb forms and prepositions is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs, and practice writing error-free simple sentences before moving to more complex structures.
