Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is widely debated whether medical research projects are funded by private companies. While some people believe that medical projects should be funded government, I firmly believe that research should be carried by private companies. This essay will explain why this position is more convincing.

The primary reason why medical research projects are funded by private companies because they get a good fund from the private companies. For instance, the company provide big opportunities such as researcher can get a good job, earn a good money. Although researcher without no tension about fund, they can discover a projects. As a result, these discover give a large profit and the company enjoy this thing. Therefore, many medical research projects are funded by private companies.

From a practical perspective, some medical research don't interested funded by the individuals and. government. There are several reason researcher don't interested fund by them. For example, individuals and. government don't provide enough money. They didn't give the enough opportunities such as jobs and labs. For this reason, researcher are not keen fund by them.

Admittedly, some people think that medical research should be funded by government. If they do this thing, it helps countries economic. It has a positive development. While this argument may appear reasonable, it fails to consider the fact that researcher lifestyle. Because if they do not earn enough money, they can't lead a good life. As a result, this view is less persuasive when examined carefully.

In conclusion, although both perspectives have their merits, I strongly maintain that medical research projects are funded by private companies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of private funding. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding why private companies are better—specifically the focus on 'good money' and 'jobs'—are somewhat simplistic and lack depth. The essay fails to fully explore the implications of the other options (government or individuals) beyond stating they do not provide enough money. While the position is maintained throughout, the supporting evidence is underdeveloped, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should provide more nuanced reasons, such as the efficiency of private R&D or the potential for innovation, rather than focusing primarily on the financial benefits for the researchers themselves.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'For this reason, researcher are not keen fund by them' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Admittedly' and 'In conclusion', the overall cohesion feels forced rather than natural. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases like 'good money', 'good job', and 'good life' are overly simplistic and lack the precision expected at higher levels. There are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'researcher don't interested funded' and 'discover a projects'. These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to research, funding, and economics, and avoid relying on generic adjectives like 'good' or 'big' to describe professional or financial concepts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that frequently impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'company provide', 'researcher are'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'researcher don't interested funded'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Although researcher without no tension about fund, they can discover a projects.' The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of periods in the middle of sentences. A significant focus on basic grammar, specifically verb tenses and sentence construction, is required to improve your score.
