Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. Today, there are many private companies that provides funding to research scholars to carry out an exceptional research in medical field. People today visit the private organizations to take funding for their project and use the resources to do a research work. Private companies offer budget for tools, equipments, medical tools and other technical support to an individual. An individual make a research on a specific topic and ask for funding from government or private organizations.
Private companies are more advantageous than to be with government funded projects. The companies offer collaborative support, gives you environments of study, interact you with other national and international researchers. The company put efforts in a researchers to generate a strongest research. For example, G-white is an organization stated in Pakistan. The company support medical students and encourage them to do work in dermatology. Graduates from different universities apply there and try to be part of G-white. G-white collaborates with many American institutions where they connect national students with international scholars. Both of them then do work that give value to the company in future.
A medical research carried under an individual or a government funded projects does not have a vast scope. Government gives student funding on the basis of so much factors that a student become exhausted and might lose his interest in the specific field. Similarly, individuals may support you in your research project but they may have limited funding. It happens with one of my friend. He made a clinical research in medical field and applied in different countries for further work. Many individuals gave him a very positive response on the basis of work he already did, but left a line in their e-mails which is "No funding available for this work". He tried on government scholarships also but did not achieved them.
In my opinion, doing funded projects with private companies specially for medical research is beneficial than with government or any individual. Private companies have to make their reputation in the market and go to any extent to achieve it

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of private companies, government, and individuals in funding medical research. You clearly state your position that private funding is most beneficial. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide a personal example regarding 'G-white' and a friend's experience, the analysis of why government or individual funding is less effective remains somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more balanced and fully explored, perhaps by discussing the potential downsides of private funding (such as commercial bias) to demonstrate a more nuanced understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For example', 'Similarly', and 'In my opinion', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing G-white to the limitations of government funding could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of pronouns and linking phrases could be more varied to improve the overall flow and make the progression of ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'collaborative support', 'clinical research', and 'international scholars'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'gives you environments of study', 'interact you with', and 'the company put efforts in a researchers'. These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Expanding your range to include more academic or topic-specific vocabulary would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'companies that provides', 'company support medical students'), article usage, and pluralization (e.g., 'equipments' is uncountable). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the missing closing quotation mark in the third paragraph. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your writing.
