Student answer (Band 5.5)
Medical research project is a very vital plan for surviving in today's world. Back to the times when humans used to live in the caves mankind became very advance nowadays and that is the reason people are know more fimiliar with the diseases spreading nowadays so it is very essential to keep researching about medical whilst the topic that medical research should be carried by private or government or individual is open for debate. In my opinion medical research should be funded by government companies I will give my reasons to support my approach in the next paragraph.
Medical research should be financially supported by governments because governments collects a handsome amount of tax from the people of specific country and it is their foremost obligation to provide good medical facilities to the public however it is only possible if governments funds a nice amount to the medical research. It helps public to stay healthy as well as they can be stay safe from diseases furthermore in any case if any specific illness affects anyone there are proper medicament already discovered.
In contrary, it is also good if private companies support in the medical research as they bring fast money and quick products in addition these companies also help in working on new ideas but in my view private companies cause problems when the only thing they thought about is a huge profit as well as high privacy that everyone is not able to bear furthermore the hidden data. private firms might hide data to prevent any kind of loss.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the roles of government and private companies in medical research. However, the development is limited. While you state your preference for government funding, the arguments are somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that governments collect 'handsome' taxes is a generalisation that lacks depth. The prompt also asks about 'individuals,' which you mention in the introduction but fail to address in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure all parts of the prompt are explored and provide more specific, nuanced examples rather than relying on broad statements about profit and privacy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and run-on sentences. While you use some cohesive devices like 'furthermore' and 'in addition,' they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately, such as starting a sentence with 'In contrary' (which should be 'On the contrary'). The transition between ideas is often abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive or informal phrasing, such as 'fast money,' 'nice amount,' and 'very vital plan.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'medicament' (which is archaic or overly technical in this context) and 'governments funds a nice amount.' To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'public sector investment,' 'commercial interests,' or 'ethical implications.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'governments collects'), tense consistency, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack necessary punctuation, such as the opening paragraph which is one long, fragmented sentence. You rely mostly on simple structures; attempts at complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'people are know more fimiliar.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
