Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era, medical research projects are funded by private companies. In my opinion, research should be carried by private companies. As you know, They can provide more funds and they can buy more medical equipment. I think private companies should conduct medical research because they can produce greater financial resources and innovation. They are competing with more companies. In this way, They can achieve great results and benefits to the medical sector.
firstly, private companies are more financially stable. They can hire more scientists and researchers. They are financially strong. They can buy more equipment. They can also work on large scale medical research. They have vast resources. so they can buy instruments and hire more scientists and researchers.
Moreover, privately owned companies are organized by private investors. So like public medical sector are under government control. Their work are more difficult and time consuming. On the other hand, Privately owned companies can work fast and produce great innovation. Which will be a great thing for medical research.
Finally, companies are competing with other privately owned firms. Every firm wants to achieve more than other. So they make more great research. Their researchers are more sharp and intellectual. If they become successful they provide many advantages.
In conclusion, privately owned firms can produce more innovation and can provide more advantages than public medical research sector. They are essential for the medical sector. As they are competing with other privately owned firms to achieve more success. Definitely, They are more better than government medical research sector.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of private companies. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you mention financial stability and competition, the arguments are not fully extended with specific examples or nuanced analysis. For instance, you mention that private companies are 'more better' than government research, but you do not explore the potential downsides or the role of government in public health, which would have provided a more balanced and sophisticated discussion. To improve, try to provide concrete examples of medical breakthroughs or specific scenarios where private funding has been more effective than public funding.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'Moreover,' 'Finally,' and 'In conclusion' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is often disjointed. Some sentences are short and choppy, which disrupts the logical progression of your argument. Referencing is also occasionally unclear; for example, in the third paragraph, the comparison between private and public sectors is slightly confusing due to the phrasing 'So like public medical sector are under government control.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas will help improve your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple adjectives like 'great' and 'more' to describe complex concepts. There is a lack of precision in your word choice, and some collocations are unnatural, such as 'produce more innovation' or 'researchers are more sharp.' To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic and precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'technological advancement,' 'capital investment,' or 'competitive landscape.' Expanding your range of synonyms will prevent the repetitive feel of the current text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While you attempt some complex sentences, they often contain errors, such as 'Which will be a great thing for medical research' (a sentence fragment) and 'Their work are more difficult' (subject-verb agreement error). There are also issues with punctuation and capitalization, such as the unnecessary capitalization of 'They' in the middle of sentences. The comparative structure 'more better' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering complex sentence forms, such as using relative clauses or conditional structures, and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and basic punctuation rules.
