Student answer (Band 5.5)
Healthcare and Medical sector has improved significantly throughout the years and also tends to develop further into their field. Therefore, to improve and develop many research are being held nowadays. Many medical research projects are funded by private companies in today's world. In my opinion, such medical researches should be completely carried by governments and private companies. The following paragraphs will discuss the reasons behind the stance and illustrate relevant examples of my own knowledge.
To commence with, the most prominent reason for my perspective is that because government does cut taxes from the money earned by its citizens. Government should be responsible for this as it uses the earnings of its people to develop infrastructure and many more developments. Thus, they be accountable for carrying out medical research projects to develop in Healthcare and Medical field to progress the country's overall wealth. Another reason why private companies should be responsible is because is the company is carrying out the medical research project by their own but also for the individual's of their country, then they should be accountable for fundings.
Moving further, the most relevant example from my own experience is the time when government of my country carried out a research project to make a antibiotic to cure a disease and the government funded the whole medical research project. The people of the country were very proud because as they were also contributing to that project, not directly but still by paying the taxes.
To conclude, from my perspective, Government should be completely responsible for the fundings of the medical research project as they are responsible for its citizens health and proper medical facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you argue that governments should be responsible, the mention of private companies in the first paragraph is confusing, as you later conclude that the government should be 'completely responsible'. The arguments regarding tax and accountability are relevant but remain somewhat superficial and repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure your position is consistent throughout the essay and provide more detailed, logical explanations for why private funding might be problematic or beneficial compared to government funding. The example provided is a bit vague and lacks specific detail to fully support your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Moving further' is not a standard transition, and the connection between sentences is sometimes weak, making the flow feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the logic regarding private companies is difficult to follow. Improving the variety and precision of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'develop further into their field' and 'many more developments'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fundings' (which is uncountable) and 'make a antibiotic'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to medical research and public policy. Avoid repeating the same words in close proximity, as this limits the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'they be accountable'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'make a antibiotic'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the government of my country carried out a research project'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb forms to improve your accuracy.
