Student answer (Band 5.5)

In present time, large number of medical research projects are funded by private organisations. I believe that research should be carried by themselves. My inclinations are explained further.

The foremost argument to support my views is that private companies have better laboratory equipments. Since the advancement in the technology begun, many modern tools are available for finding solutions. Therefore, it is easy for themselves to find solutions. Moreover, private offices are often funded by the government or businessman. This is because many individuals are ready to help to them with financial assets. As result, companies can invest in the long term projects. For example, a famous company TCS, got two million fund for finding remedies of cancer disease.

Furthermore, companies offer employed many skilled workers. If there are creativity people in the organisation, research process may be more easier under their guidance. Hence, company can get benefit and make financial boost. Moreover, private organisations work in many global nations. When there are more office available in the world, more people show interest in join organisation. Consequently, younger generation can come up with new and fresh ideas for research which help companies in a long term. For instance, Madison which is medical based company in the USA. Recent survey in this company told that, their profit boost by more than twenty percentage by established more than four offices in the globe.

In conclusion, nowadays, I believe that many research projects can be done by private companies if they are funded by money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear preference for private funding. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you mention laboratory equipment and skilled workers, the arguments lack depth and logical connection to the core issue of medical research ethics or efficacy. The conclusion is weak and does not effectively summarise the main points. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-explained reason that directly answers why private companies are superior to government or individual funding, rather than focusing on general business growth or profit margins.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'As result' (missing 'a') and 'Hence, company can get benefit' are awkward transitions. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'themselves' in the introduction, which does not clearly refer to private companies. The logical progression between sentences is occasionally disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'find solutions', and 'money'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'creativity people' (should be 'creative people'), 'remedies of cancer disease' (should be 'remedies for cancer'), and 'medical based company' (should be 'medical-based company'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word formation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic terminology related to research and funding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include missing articles ('the' advancement, 'the' government), incorrect verb forms ('technology begun' instead of 'began'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('company can get benefit'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common errors like article usage and pluralisation before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
