Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, many research projects are funded by private companies and that doesn't mean that the research should be carried by only private companies. I think private companies, individuals and government should work together.
Developing countries like Bangladesh has huge problems in medical research. In that country if anyone want a proper treatment, then he/she has to go to the abroad for better treatment. I think the main reason behind this is the lackings of better medical education. The medical institutes in this country in not so good as there is lack of better medical research. If there is proper education is available then the students have to admit in private medical colleges which are very expensive to admit. On the other hand, government medical colleges don't have proper funding to give the education to the students. For this reason, government should invest more in these institutes so that they can get the equal advantage which are getting the private medical students.
Another reason for the lagging behind of the medical researches is that the funding is coming from the private companies that's why community engagements are not included. So if community engagement are being included, then the medical research will be fruitful. Otherwise, that won't be proper research as most of the people in those countries are deprived from proper treatment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position that a collaborative approach is best, the arguments regarding medical education in Bangladesh are somewhat tangential to the core prompt about funding sources for medical research. The connection between 'medical education' and 'research funding' is not clearly articulated, leading to an under-developed argument. To improve, ensure you directly address the pros and cons of private, individual, and government funding for research specifically, rather than focusing on general educational infrastructure. The lack of length prevents a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions are often repetitive or mechanical, such as 'For this reason' and 'On the other hand'. The referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, the phrase 'the equal advantage which are getting the private medical students' is syntactically confusing and hinders the flow of ideas. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are not used with enough flexibility to create a smooth, logical argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and occasionally imprecise. Phrases like 'lackings of better medical education' and 'the medical institutes in this country in not so good' demonstrate a restricted range and awkward phrasing. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are non-standard, such as 'admit in private medical colleges' (should be 'enroll in'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic terminology related to research and funding, such as 'subsidies', 'public-private partnerships', or 'clinical trials', and focus on correct collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('medical institutes... is not so good'), incorrect preposition usage ('go to the abroad'), and awkward sentence structures ('if anyone want a proper treatment'). While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for achieving a higher band score.
