Student answer (Band 4.0)
It is often argued that, governments should prioritize spending money on railways rather than roads. While some people believe that investment in roads is equally important, i completely agree with this view because railways can reduce time and cause less environmental damage.
The primary reason why i agree with the statement is that, it helps us to reduce our valuable time, also useing railways as a transport is much more cheaper than other public transports. This is because railways are much more safer than any other public transports,so people choose that as their main transportation. For example, significant number of people travel in trains at a same time. On the other hand, other vehicles only carry few people, While railways does much better. Therefore, it is clear that railways are more affordable for people, also the goverment manage this sector very well than other.
Another significant reason is that, railways are much more environment friendly than other types of transportation. One important explanation it that, vehicles on roads are produce more CO2, also needed more fuel, gas and other things which is harmful for environment. As a result, global warming increases rapidly and that cause a very bad impact on the global eco system. This demonstrates that, railways helps to protect environment in some extent.
In conclusion, i completely agree that spend more money on railways is much important rather than roads. This is mainly because the increase of global warming and aslo for the public safety. For that reasons, i believe that government spend more money than roads, because improvement of railways is needed for people

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 1.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for an opinion on who should fund medical research (private companies, individuals, or government), but the essay discusses the merits of railways versus roads. Because the student failed to address the task prompt entirely, the response cannot be assessed for task development or position. According to IELTS criteria, a response that is completely unrelated to the prompt must be penalised heavily in Task Achievement, as it does not address the requirements of the task at all.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the logical progression is hindered by the fact that the content is irrelevant to the prompt. The use of linking words is somewhat mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. Despite the failure to address the topic, the structure of the essay itself follows a standard academic format, which prevents a lower score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student uses basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'things' rather than more precise academic vocabulary. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'much more cheaper' (a double comparative) and 'protect environment in some extent' (incorrect preposition). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the student's (albeit irrelevant) argument, it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow of the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('railways does much better'), incorrect comparative structures ('much more cheaper'), and punctuation errors, particularly with comma usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited attempts at complex sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score.
